Paul Nelson

MPS Sales & Development Director

Tell us about your industry experience... I graduated with a degree in Economics and Marketing and have 20 years’ experience in the office products industry managing national accounts. I have worked for OfficeTeam since 2011 and was given the opportunity to manage DigitalTeam in 2013. I was responsible for the Danwood relationship and was involved in the early discussions around manufacturer selection, at which time a partnership with Xerox, a global leader in MPS, was agreed. With the recent placement of our dedicated MPS specialists (read more below), there are exciting times ahead for DigitalTeam.

Tell something not many people know about you… I grew up in New Zealand and was a Triathlete in my younger days. Nowadays, during my free time, I do enjoy a spot of golf but, most importantly, I love spending time with my little boy Micah.

I was involved in the early discussions around manufacturer selection, at which time a partnership with Xerox, a global leader in MPS, was agreed.

Tell us about your industry experience... I have worked in the reprographic industry for ten years, building my knowledge and experience with one of the largest independent re-sellers of MFD’s and related software. During the last seven years, my drive and ambition is focused on managed print services, offering a range of reprographic equipment across many different sectors including, local authority, education, legal and commercial.

Talk about your job. What does your role involve? My role within DigitalTeam is to provide a tailored managed print solution for any organisation across any sector. With the knowledge and expertise built over the years, I can offer a tailored print solution with outstanding results including cost efficiency. I can’t wait to see what the coming years bring as this is truly an exciting time being able to offer world leading products.

Tell something not many people know about you… I have an ever-growing family; Millie, my youngest at 14 months, and Edward, or as he likes to be called at the moment - Superman - is nearly three. Both are the light and joy in my life. Growing up I remember my parents preparing me for life in the big wide world, however no preparation could have set me up to be a father or family man; the happiness it brings me is second to none.

With the knowledge and expertise built over the years, I can offer a tailored print solution with outstanding results including cost efficiency.

Tell us about your industry experience... At 20, I applied for a job as an office furniture sales person for a small Spicers dealer in Brighton and was an office supplies account manager for over five years (I can’t help but think that was the real plan all along!). In 2004, I joined Netstationers (now Buro) as a franchisee in the same region and managed the business with a partner. Soon after, I focused more on developments in EOS/MPS which resulted in extensive training with HP, acquiring Technical Pre-Sales Professional and Accredited Sales Consultant status. Between 2011 and 2014, I helped in developing a strategy for the EOS / MPS business, and with a comprehensive strategy in place, sales grew in the new MPS category.

Talk about your job. What does your role involve? With the acquisition of buro in 2014, I had the opportunity of meeting Paul Nelson and my role is to develop the EOS / MPS strategies.

Tell something not many people know about you… Born in Lichfield quite a long time ago and regularly relocated to Suffolk, Sussex and Kent as a result of dad’s career progression, I now live in Frome, Somerset with my partner of ten years and two very manly Yorkshire Terriers. Interests include F1, fishing, and almost anything technology based… I really am that boring!

Tell us about your industry experience... I have worked within the MPS industry for 16 years with the first ten years of my career working for Xerox. I managed a team of on-site engineers and support staff within Deutsche Bank before moving into a sales role. This incorporated selling in-house digital print, outsourced litho print and various types of marketing collateral. Having picked up the bug for sales I then moved onto Danwood, selling hardware and software to range of clients including commercial, public sector and independent and state schools. After four successful years in the role it was time for a change. I moved on to work for a small Kent-based supplier of MPS solutions, Direct-tec, for two years until the exciting role at OfficeTeam became available!

Tell something not many people know about you… A latecomer to golf, I can often be found at the weekends hacking around the courses of Kent much to the annoyance of better players. I am a keen football fan, despite supporting Charlton Athletic, and used to play to a good standard before a torn cruciate ligament ended any unlikely dreams. I also enjoy squash and horse racing, making an annual visit to Cheltenham for the festival. I listen to an eclectic range of music, and looking for a festival to attend as I missed out on Glastonbury tickets for the first time in years! And if there was a celebrity I’d like to have met, it would have to be David Bowie.
